Karin is 36 miles out of Takotna and taking another rest.  Generally she runs about 6 hours and rests 6 hours.  Shoot by the time I finish writing this she may be back on the trail.

Read a cute article about Takotna today, dang if I can find it now.  It was about how the shipment of pie filling had not arrived in the town and they are known for their pies...about 100 pies for the 66 mushers plus officials, veterinarian, press.  Anyway, the town went to their cupboards and gathered all the fruit, pie filling and anything else that would do and the pies were made.  Eventually the ordered pie filling will arrive and they will be ready for next year.  I guess some of the children were amazed that pies can be made from fruit...they have only seen canned filling. =)

Here is this link to an article about Takotna that will give you an idea of this 'town'. http://www.alaskadispatch.com/slideshow/photos-iditarod-2013-takotna

To backtrack a bit, when Karin got into Rohn she dropped a dog and I have now found out from Varan, her husband, that it was Doc.  Apparently he had a sore shoulder and sore ribs do not know the cause.  Guess we will have to wait for the Tales from the Trail.

Meanwhile the race at the lead is getting interesting with Martin Buser in the lead but some of the others gaining.  Several are out of Iditarod which is the half way point.
